Default Moved to VA (inspection question)

Hello everyone,

I recently moved from SC to Ashburn VA and was wondering what the registration process is like in VA when dealing with a classic car? Figured you all could give me some insight to this.

Thanks in advance!

You mean antique tags? Same as any other vehicle, just check the antique tag box on the paper work. One time fee for registration and the tags are permanent. Plus no more inspection. Was like 50 something to register my truck as antique.

You do have to have abother vehicle that's got regular plates on it to be able to register an antique vehicle. You can't drive over 250 miles from place of registration a day. And you can only drive it to shows/meets, to have it worked on, to pick up parts for it, or for a pleasure drive. You can go over the 250 miles rule if it's to a show its registered in I believe.

In VA your car must be 25 years old or older to qualify for antique tags. There are limitations to this tag, so go to VA DMV for details.
Being a classic car is of no import unless it is over 25
