If I buy one used, will I have to pay AM/Bama for tunes for life program?

Then I might as well buy one new.... Makes no sense to spend $215.00 then $150.00 for a used tuner and only save $15 from new... Thanks though

Well it makes sense if you're getting a custom tune and not a canned tune.. Canned tunes wont do you any good if you go with serious performance mods..

at the moment the only mods I have planned are a Steeda CAI, and possibly 3.73 gears.
Mekniker, I didn't mean to seem ungrateful for the offer, just trying to understand how to go about this. Is a "canned tune" in reference to what you get from Bama? Or just the standard tunes that are preloaded on the SCT tuners?

"Custom Tunes" from a tuner? I would have to pay someone to dyno tune my car? Just trying to figure this out...

Canned tunes are like what you would get from Bama, Brenspeed, Steeda, etc.. Just pre-made tunes for certain mods.

Custom tune is what you would get while on a dyno, or doing street logs and have them emailed to you by tuners like Lund and others. It's made specifically for your car to make it perform it's very best.

Canned is the easy cheap way for basic mods. Custom will get you the best possible, especially once you go with more mods like long tube headers and fuel system, and especially forced induction..

Really, you don't have to enroll in the tunes from life from Bama if you don't plan on doing several mods to your car piece by piece. If all you decide to do is an intake and gears for the next couple years you can purchase one tune for $50 (IIRC) for what you have done.. Therfore, the price of the used tuner and one tune is now $265, over 100 off new.. Tunes for life is great when you're constantly adding something every couple months.
