I'm stationed at NAS Whidbey Island up here in Oak Harbor, WA. I must say that I am highly dissapointed with how lame the performance car scene is in Washington. I have had my 07' Saleen since September 07' and have not had much fun with the car. Besides the one or two big shows during the summer - there is not much else going on. I have not heard of any cruises, meets, hangouts, etc. I have personally seen 4 other Saleen's here on Whidbey but I could'nt tell you who owns them. I have also seen many other bad ass Mustang's, Camaro's, Firebird's, old school hotrods, etc but I could'nt tell you who owns those either.
This lack of activity really ticks me off because Washington has some beautifull summer weather. There are also many great places to cruise and hang out at. Every weekend I see the ricers hanging out together and doing things but I never see the American car crowd hanging out and doing things. I have my Saleen and an 81 Camaro with a 450hp 350. Both cars sit under my carport every weekend because there is absolutely nothing going on with all the American car guys and gals. I would even be willing to drive to Everett, Seattle, or whatever on the weekends to hang out with some fellow American motorheads. I love all American machines new or old. All I know is that Whidbey Island sucks if you own an American high performance car.
hey man i would have to agree that whidbey island is pretty lame i live in the arlington area and i see quite a few stangs running around here new and old..
I'm stationed at Whidbey Island as well although I'm in Iraq for the next 11 months and have been away from Whidbey for several months already. My wife does take the Saleen out from time to time so it may be one of the ones your seeing on base, although I doubt she's taking it to work (she's Navy too). I confess to not driving it much, it only has 5800 miles on it (embarassed) but it's the mineral grey 05 bumper #139. When I get home we'll have to get the group of Whidbey Island Saleen folks together for a photo in front of one of the Growlers.
oh yeah, that triple x rootbeer joint has some pretty good car shows in the summertime, nearly every weekend and does host a mustang or ford show if I remember correctly. It's a haul from Whidbey but you might enjoy it. Google triple x rootbeer and you'll find the sked.
