My recommendation for all southern California mustang owners: DO NOT USE SWANSONS PERFORMANCE!

Ok so both times I went there they created problems for me, first time using them I had them install 3.90 gears. They f'd up the install on that by incorrectly shimming the gears and got debris in the differential. Had major gear whine for a day then took it back the next day. They said to bring it back the net week and they would re-shim it, leaving time to wear the incorrect pattern into the gears. They try the best they could to readjust the gears and it still has whine, less but still very noticable. Then a few weeks later theres a really loud squeak coming from the rear when ever the car is rolling. I paid $675 for this. I take the car to Chicane about a month later and just have them install new 4.10s. After the 3.90s are out you can see the horrible shimming had worn the gears way out on the outter edge of the gear and the bearing has a deep line dug into it from something getting in there after the install at Swansons(which is understandable since their shop is so messy). I have it all redone for $500 at chicane and it turns out perfectly.

Second f*** up: I take the car in for tuning, buy a tuner off ebay that had already been unlocked. They say itll cost about $150 total. They start to tune it with the tune and then they f something up and the PATS system locks down the car. They have to take me to my house to get my spare key. Then they claim that "the tuner must have still had the old tune on it and that overwrote the factory tune." So they say the computer is fried and I need a new one. They have another S197 there so I get a used computer for $400 but have to buy it since my car is inoperable until this is fixed, basically they know they can just rip me off. Then they tell me I need a new tuner. another $350. So this $150 tune job turned into a $975 f* up that they say is because the tuner still had a tune on it, so its my fault.

The best part is that I sent the tuner back to SCT and they verified that the tuner was ready to use and would not do those things but they even suggested that they just used to tuner to shut off certain things and make it seem like the car was all messed up, Swansons just played it out like there was something totally wrong.

So in conclusion, dont go to Swansons. they will rip you off and f*** up anything they get their hands on. Go to Chicane, they deserve every penny they charge you, and they wont mess it up.

interesting... when I first got my gt a few people recomended that I go there for dyno tuning...LOL no thanx, where is chicane located?

chicane is really close to del amo and western, just one block west down del amo from western

they now their stuff! worth every penny to have it done right the first time than to have to do it over again. Chicane doesnt do dyno tuning yet lol but they recommend RET(racers edge tuning) and they are just as good if not better than swansons

sorry to hear that but you should have done some research ahead of time. swanson has been getting a bad rep for years now. i went to him about 5 years ago, the guy is a complete jacka$$

ya ill be going to RET from now on lol i cant believe swansons is still open by how crappy of a shop they are. hopefully soon chicane and RET will put them out of business
