Default S197 20in wheel/tire fitment questions?

My car is summer only with a paxton and i would like to shoe it with a wide drag radial. The look i like is a 20x10 wheel rear and 20x 9 front. Will the nitto 305/35/20 drag tire fit the car ok? (looks like the widest 20in drag tire on the market right now) If so, what front tire size would look correct for this combo? any help is appreciated.

I am sorry to say, you have a poor choice in wheel diameter for a DR

I recommend you pick up a set of 15"x10" wheels and put a set of DR's on those for track days. You will have MUCH more choice in tire sizes/types and enough sidewall to offer some traction.

If you are set on those wheels, you are looking at a 275 tire max on 9" wheel and maybe a 40 series would fit well. I recommend you try to keep the tire diameters pretty even as your ABS sensors can give you trouble. I think that you should stay within 1/2" difference if possible.

Thanks for that jazzer,

I guess i should have been more specific in what i am after.

This combo will not see the track, already have 1 drag car (with 33/17/16 lol) and thats enough to keep me busy. This combo is just for show in the pit or trying to get the car to hook better when leaving hard. My wheel choice is the forged alcoa super snake wheel, stagered with the 305's. Again, going for the look this time with this car.
I love the look of the shelby super snake wheels and 20"s imo look awsome on the s197. I realize that not having any side wall wont be any good for the 60 foot times but the wide contact patch and sticky compound should help for playing. My main concern was if the 305 would fit at 12 inch wide.

Good to know, thanks.

The more i think about it i guess i dont have to use a drag radial for what i am looking for. I see there is a toyo proxes 4 high performance tire at 295/30/20 that has a section width of 12 inchs also.

Not understanding here...

Do you mean the tire is 12" contact patch on a 10" wheel? I guess all I can recommend is a really sticky tire and some good LCA's (with relo brackets if you are lowered) to help your launches when runnning this set of wheels. As you already know, the low profile will hurt you due to short sidewall and a stiff on at that. Just go with an "R" compound and maybe a 40 series 305 will fit. Mickey (06Saleen3V) runs a 305/35/20" on Super Sport springs and says he doesn't rub.

I guess if you want a stiff one at the 1/4 mile... you better put on your soft ones

They show the section width at almost 12 inchs, the contact would be less i am guessing.
I do have lca's with welded relocation brackets from bmr with ther lowering springs. As far as a stiffy at the stripe, thats done with the ole camaro at 9.50@ 142.

that is a quick Camo, fo sho!

I don't see an issue running the 305's on 10" wheels, but may get a bit of rubbing on the liner... no biggie.
