Where in Canada are you located? I live in North Pole Alaska and drive my S197 year round. Okay everyone stop laughing=) Yes there is such a place as North Pole Alaska and its not at the actual North Pole.

Anyway, this is my third mustang over the last 25 years. My first was an 80 Fox body with the 2.3L turbo...my second was a 1990 LX notch and now my black S197 GT 5 spd.

Having lived in such tropical places as northern Maine, Minot North Dakota and Alaska I have learned a few things about driving in the snow. Hands down the best tires you can buy for winter driving are Blizzaks. They can be a bit pricey ($75 [215 70 15] - $115 [215 55 17]each), but they are quieter than studded tires and they can be driven year round (I dont recomend it but you can). The reason I bring this up is that in a lot of northern areas they have limited time frames that you can run studded tires and in some areas now they are outlawing them due to the damage they cause to the roads.

Not sure if this helps but I have taught my 2 teenage sons to drive in the snow and its not that big a deal if you double teh distance you drive behind cars, plan every action to allow twice the normal distance, slow down and drive smoothly.

BTW..I am working on new wheels and tires for my car and I am buying the new Continental extreme contact DWS.

those look like Nokian tires, but the tread pattern looks older, do you know how old they are?
