Default Will wheels from 99-04 mustang fit 05 gt?

Hi all,
Just wondering if 18" wheels/tires off 04 mustang will fit/have clearance on the narrowing 05 mustang.

Thanks!

Didn't you just ask a similar question last week?

.... anyway, an 18" wheel will run fine, it is the width in which you need be concerned. I have seen an 18"x10" Saleen wheel run on an S197, but was VERY close to fender and I think had 275's installed.

What width of wheels do you plan to run?

Any rims from a 99-04 model will not fit right on an S197 model mustang.

The offset is to the point where any 99-04 rim will stick out a good amount on the S197.

You will need a new hub centric plate, and wheels spaces for these.

Isn't this like the third thread you created? LOL

Good luck in finding suitable rims.

Lol, sorry about the over post, but I thought I might be picking em up tomorrow morning and wanted a quick answer (I also posted in the wrong section I think for 1). But thanks for the input!!! On Monday I'm going to meet with the guy and we'll put em on and see how they fit. Thanks again!

Not necessarily...

I agree that one should find wheels meant to fit his/her ride, but the wheels are interchangable up to a certain width. A spacer is not a good idea going from SN95~S197, as this will worsen the already incorrect off-set you have noted. I have seen some rides that have done this, but seems silly as there are soo many wheels out there, why not find one that is designed for ones make/model.

On the other hand, I have seen some stock S197 wheels mounted on an SN95, but cannot speak as to if there is any rubbing or not. I would figure there is not in the cases I have seen as they were only 8" wide and should not be an issue based on off-set differences.

Too many choices to buy wheels that will more than likely not fit well.

I agree. Not necessarily depends on the actual offset of those rims.

I know for a fact going from SN95-S197 the wheels will stick out. I tried my 03 Cobra 10th anni wheels with my DR's mounted on my S197, didn't work too well.

Ya, the S197 with the Saleen 18"x10" wheels I mentioned above worked, but I am pretty sure he had to run 275's to avoid rubbing. Fortunately, the S197 fenders are very nicely rolled from Ford, so would have been a real PITA without that.

The off-set differential is about 3/8" going from the S197 to SN95 on the car itself.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I would go with something s197 specific, but 400$ for 18" wheels and tires with only 10k on them is a pretty good deal that I don't know if I'll be able to find for an s197 :s

^ please see my correction on off-set differences above. I realized I was off a bit and is nearer to 3/8" between the models.
