So I bought a pair of prostars with ET streets (bias-ply) on them several months back and have only used it a handful of times. It only had like 2 passes on them and I've put like 3 or 4 more with little burnouts. Plenty of tread left. The compound is alittle firm to the touch but it still hooks well.
Well a few days ago I was taking a look at them and noticed that they were manfactured on the 15th week of 2000. This means they're like 9 years old. I was wondering how safe do you guys think it would be to continue using them? It would suck to have to throw them away cause they still look and work really well. But then it would REALLY suck if they blew out on the freeway on the way to/from the track.
I called Mickey Thomson and they said the shelf life of their tires is 2 years but the rep on the phone didn't sound so interested in giving me a thoughtful response
What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Brandon

There is a VERY current post on this very subject just a couple days ago. I didn't give it a whole lot of thought as the video link was drama-infused and full of hyperboly.
