Unhappy Do i have to choose between it looking good or handling good?

I read the americanmuscle wheel guide & I have heard that sizes above 18 start to lose handling. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Is this true or just rumor? Wider wheels touch on road more than stock one it has to improve handling but if i use 20" rims wheel's lips getting smaller thats not good either

If its true how could i improve handling? (Maybe with suspension).

Its for daily drive not for best lap on Silverstone

ya your definitly going to wanna keep the wheels 18s if your building a car mainly to go fast. Bigger wheels weigh more, my axis reverbs on my previous car weighed just 18 pounds, this guy I know had custom 22 inch wheels on his mustang that weighed 60 pounds each!!! The less weight the better.

I think you may have mis-interpreted AM, maybe not, but I somewhat disagree.

You will find the widest range of tires in an 18" size and MUCH more than larger ones. There are some good quality performance tires in 19"s & 20"s, but I think 18"s are the way to go for ALL '79+ Stangs.

Generally speaking, a lower profile tire is a preferred way to go for a car designed to corner well. Suspesion is a major plus, but tires are the most important part, next to the driver. There are lots of things you can do to help beyond tires, but ANY suspension mods will add some NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) to your ride. The amount of it, depends on the parts you install and how far you want to go.

Weight looks like very important, i never thought of that. I think better choice is 19" with suspension mods but 20" looking so good My old-neighbour has a Mustang GT in NY he has a 20" wheels it looks so amazing (i couldnt forget, i fell in love that car ) but when you decide to buy wheels its not easy to choose .

Thanks for info everyone.

By the way i watch your track performance Jazzer , you are very good.

TY

Do some looking around before you commit to 19" wheels. Tires selection is VERY limited, as it is uncommon size. One upside to going 18"s is the ability to run a slightly higher profile tire for comfort. This will be same size or smaller than a 19" or 20" overall diameter, but lower the car a bit more than stock and NOT change geometry of your suspension.
