Default 11' GT 5.O Drag Tire & Wheel fitment??

I have an 11' GT 5.0. I went to run up at the local Drag strip but the car just blew the tires off with out traction control. My question is can a 15" wheel fit just on the back? or 16"? Allso what size Drag Radial Tire would fit? Anyone else looking to do the same thing? I just cant see spending $500 bucks apiece for a 19" Drag tire for the street. I just want to switch them back & forth as needed.

Thanks ahead of time for any help, Ken

You are certainly going the correct direction to look for a 15" wheel for your ride, but cannot tell you for certain if one will fit.... but should not be a problem. I would contact some sellers of Weld wheels and such to ask them for fitment. They should have specs on what would work on your car and any mods you may need to address clearance and such.

PS. Welcome to MF's

Check out Racestar's (15x8 with 5.5in backspacing). They have a fitment for the 05-10s and I am fairly sure they will also fit the '11s.

Another option is Jegs Sport Stars as they also fit the 05 - 10s... but sometimes required slight caliper grinding.

The same problem on the earlier years has always easily been fixed with a pair of 17" or 18" drag radials... Granted, not as good as a smaller wheel with a taller sidewall for total straight-line traction - but much better for driving to/from the track and you can leave them on in good weather if you want- and it's not obvious that you have race tires on the car.
