Hey guys, i have 17x9" Bullits all around.

Im curious what a good tire size for the rear would be?

I use the car for street/strip duty. I dont drive in the rain and i dont really care too much about cornering, i just want good straight line grip

If you drive at ALL on the street, you are best to pick up a set of 15" rear wheels for 1/4 mile use ONLY.

A great tire for such a use is horrible on the street and should not be driven on one. A smaller wheel will allow you to run a higher profile for improved grip at the Christmas tree.

Is this a doable option?

certainly a do-able option.

but i am looking for a good tire for the street as well that i wont fry off if i try to step on it.

The only tire I see advertised as an "in between" one, is the Nitto 555R (not the RII's) Either way, an "R" comp is gonna be your best choice, because grip is what you need. Will just have to be a bit more fine with the throttle to avoid spinning is all.

I have 275s on mine with Cobra wheels but would like to go a little bigger if I can.

A 275 is not only a max width for a 9" wheel, but is beyond what I think should be on one. They tend to bulge too much and create sloppy turn-in response and poor cornering due to roll-over of sidewalls. A 265 is not only a better fit, but will almost never rub where a 275 will almost always do so
