Snow Tires and chain clearance questions - 2011 coupe
#11
There will be no issue running a cable chain on your car, in regards to clearance. The "approved" tire is a bit wider, but offers and additional 1" of clearance around the diameter and why a chain is rated to fit. There is room for a MUCH wider tire under your car, so the minimal additional width is of no consequence to clearance. Beyond this, a chain is not only larger than a cable type, but the slack they usually have tends to reduce clearance even more.
If your cables are tight you are not going to have rubbing issues. As with ALWAYS running a set of chains, do the initial installation on a dirt road and test them out. Prior to doing this, park one wheel up on the curb to see how much space is between the tire and fenders. You will find clearance, as the OEM tires are not a tight fit at all.
