Good information. Thanks guys. That's the answer I was kind of expecting, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

You can go front/front, but unless you swap the tires/wheels as well, it will be of little to no help. I happen to think that tire rotation is very overrated and most driving a Mustang are not going to see much benefit. If you want to rotate properly, you need to stick with all the same size tires/wheels at each corner. If you want to make it "practicle" to rotate, you also need to avoid a directional tire.

You mean I dont agree with Jazzer on something?
on a car with all the same size tires and wheels, I think rotating helps extend tire life, enough to really notice.

On our cars for example, you would see more edge wear on the fronts, and center tread wear on the rears.

On a front wheel drive car the front tires would wear twice as fast as the rears, and the rears would start to show some cupping after 6-8k miles.

But side to side with staggered, not worth it really.

Did we ever determine if the rims where actually staggered or just the tires on them? I would guess (based on tire sizes posted) that they are the same size wheels and if he really wanted to rotate/extend life - he could wrap them all in 245/45/17 and be happier. If they are aftermarket, there is the chance they are 17x9 instead of 17x8, which would allow for the 275/40/17 all the way around instead.

No, we didn't. I assume the only way to tell would be to take off the entire wheel itself and look on the back? I haven't had a chance to do that yet.
