275/40 on 8.5 rim
Is anyone running a 275/40 on an 8.5 inch rim? I have Hankook Evo Ventus tires on the car now, but they are a 255/45 and I'd like to go a little wider. I prefer the 275/40 over the 265/40 because the diameter is about 1/2 bigger on the wider tire. But Hankook's website says the recommended wheel width is 9-11 inches.
The car is my daily driver and doesn't usually get too much hard cornering, but I do make it out to the hill country a few times a year and drive pretty hard. The Hankooks I have on there now are great, I would just like a little wider if I can get it.

If you EVER drive your car hard in the corners, please do yourself a favor and don't do what you are considering. A 255 is max on an 8.5" wheel for a proper fit and your car will be a bit "sloppy" in the corners with a 275. You are running some serious HP/T numbers and and some aftermarket suspension upgrades. Do yourself a favor and go the OTHER way, in terms of width by going narrower. Otherwise, get wider wheels to actually put more contact patch on the ground and really improve your lateral/off-the-line grip.
