Default Would I need a new set of tires if I..........

Both of my front Bullitt rims have curb rash on them but the back rims are fine. So I've been looking at two new rims and I really like the look of the deep dish 10.5. I'm running a 265-40-17 on the rear and from what I understand the stock rims are 8'' wide. I'm thinking of putting the rear rims that aren't rashed on the front tires and getting the 10.5's for the rear and putting those tires on them. Will I need new rear tires if I try to do this?

Short answer is yes you need new tires. It would physically be possible to put those tires on a 10.5 rim but this IS NOT something you want to do. You either need to invest in larger tires for the 10.5s or choose an 8 or 9 inch rim for the tires you have.

^ Yup, but get at least a 9" wheel up front for the tires you have, as 265's on an 8" wheel are a bad idea

K cool I'm going to wait till it's time for new tires and then go with the switch. I could put a little bit bigger tire on the back like a 275 or 285 couldn't I? I'm running the stock 245/40/17 on the front. I just wanted a little more beef on the back since I just dropped in a 4.10 gear and first gear really like's to let loose =)

The 10.5s look much like factory Bullitt Wheels, but look different once used with the stock ones and don't quite match up. I hope you'll like the look. Just letting you know.

Now that you mention it, I have heard that there is two different "shade's" of the Anthracite. Would that be the difference between the factory and aftermarket? Or is there a general difference between the stock and aftermarket Bullitt's apart from the color?

If running an 8" wheel, a 245 max. If running an 8.5" wheel, a 255 max. If you are running a 9" wheel, a 275 max. If you are going to be running 10.5" wheels out back, you can go up to a 315

FWIW and just in case the thought had occured to you, running a wider tire than approved for a wheel will NOT give one more grip. All it will do is curl up the sides and lose the proper contact patch, among several other things. A tire that is wider than the wheel, in the case of a street tire, is of no benefit in grip. A drag tire can be a different story, but we are talkin' street meats here

Both sides? Why not invest the funds in some driving lessons instead of new rims you're just gonna rash up again?

:P

I think the color is a shade lighter on the aftermarket, but the machined lip or dish also has more of a shine or chrome-ish look too.
