Default Just bought an used Boss, tire help?

Hey guys, i just bought a Boss (9850 mi on the odometer). I experienced some mild skidding even when not accelerating under hard throttle.

Does anyone know if i should get new tires at almost 10K miles? What depth is recommended when it's too worn?

Thanks!

Depending on the tires, it is possible they are in need of replacement, but NOT likely. Unless you are running a seriously sticky tire or the previous owner had a lead foot, you might just need a different tire. What tire are you running currently (be specific on make/model/ALL three sizes and width of wheels, please)*

As I like to say: tires should be chosen by the drivers needs, but decided by the budget... what are they?

Thanks for the help Jazzer! I'm in a frozen pickle

My Boss is a 2012 with about 9890 mi's now. The previous owner probably had a lead foot since the brakes squeak a tiny bit.

Current tires: Pirelli Pzero F- 255/40/ZR19 R- 285/35/ZR19

My needs: New england, 6 months of winter and 6 months of mild winter I would like an all season tire if possible. I know it compromises on performance, but i probably won't take my car to the track so something all around for town and a couple fun back roads is optimal.

My budget: under $1500

I'm willing to compromise a bit and get some summer tires if that's all i can find since public transportation is abundant here and i don't need to drive to work.

Thanks again!

Honestly I would just visit a tire shop such as Discount Tire, Tire Kingdom etc.

Go up to the free air filling station and ask them to inspect your tires, they will tell you the tread depth left and all that.. all for free.

All season tires would not benefit you in your weather. They are OK for front wheel drive, but not our cars. If you don't need to drive to work, then get a new set of summer tires and drive it when there is no snow.

I am not a fan of PZero Neros on a performance ride, such as yours, but you are just not gonna find a tire worthy of your HP/T numbers and be able to run very safely in snow. My recommendation is to get yourself a seriously good A/S tire on beater wheels for Winter months. If you want any solid performance of your car during Summer, you are best off to get a set of good Summer-only tires and drive those when the weather is nice.
