Tire Sizes for 18x9 & 18x10 FR500 wheels
Hello to all, I've had these FR500 Anthracite wheels since last November. I can't afford the different sets of tires when I'm trying to buy them all at once. Or I can't seem to figure out what tire sizes I want for them. Can someone help find some good sizes? What I had in mind are 275/35/18 in the front and 295/35/18 at the back... what y'all think? They're going on a 04 Mustang

There are a lot of corners and speed breakers where I live, I don't hit the strip often, and it does tend to rain hard some days. I park behind the house all the time so when it does rain I have a hard time getting out of the back yard. I'm just looking for good tire sizes that doesn't go over $800 for a whole set

I don't really know what to recommend, as mud 'n snows are not on my list
As for rain, anything but semi-slick is gonna be doable in the wet. I'm still not sure if you like to take corners.... you said lots of "speed breakers", but not sure what you mean. If you like coners, go with at least a set of Nitto 555's or better and put something down behind the house so you don't get stuck.

Get the max size you can get for the front and use the same size in the back and rotate them. You will get more life out of the tires than running staggered since you are having a hard time spending $800.
You did not mention your rim widths, so if they are staggered then go ahead with the size you mentioned and search tire rack for a decent value tire, 200 a piece might be tough. You might be able to take the price to a local Discount Tire or local dealer and get a price match or order them from the Rack and find a dealer to install them.
Tire rack also has some tools like the tire specs which can help you to figure out if the tire will fit your rim, front or back. The one fault of the site is they don't do oversize very well if you search by make.. at least not for the S197. If you search here or other mustang forums, you can probably find what someone put on theirs. I took a chance squeezing 275x45x18s under my front, but research said it should work and it did.

IMO, rotation is very overrated. Get a tire that offers the grip you need and pay whatever that cost happens to be. If you like corners, don't go getting yourself a set of A/S tires, as they will let you down. They will be better at getting you out from behind your house, but that issue can be addressed with some gravel or other work.
Go to Tire Rack and hit up the Tire Decision Guide and see what fits your needs. Just be true to your DRIVING needs, above whatever the cost may be. If these tires are in your budget... great! If not, I recommend you save up until you can afford them. After all, the tires are the ONLY thing, beyond you, keeping your car on the road.
As for specific sizes, OEM diameter is 25.6", so would look between a 255~265/35 up front and 275~95/30 out back. This will maintain speedo/ODO accuracy and good clearance from fenders.
