White Rims?
Hey,
I'm new to the forums so I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place for this but here I go. I have a 2007 black Mustang and it has the white stripe on the bottom on each side that says Mustang. Right now I have the stock rims that are kind of a dull chrome and I was looking to make them white. I don't have the funds right now to completely replace them so I was looking to paint them. I've read various reviews about the different white paints and it sounds like they are very difficult to keep clean. I was wondering if anyone could verify this or if you had any other suggestions on how to do this.

I have painted the wheels on my motorcycle. Make sure you do your prep work. Rough up the wheel with fine sand paper or scotch brite pad. Use a white primer then lay down several light coats of your color until you get a nice even finish. I used a wheel paint I got at an autoparts store but I would guess any automotive spray paint would work. If you do not want to dismount the tires you can take some 3x5 index cards and stick the short end in between the wheel and the tire. Put them all the way around and this will keep the paint off the tire. If you can dismount the tire this would be preferable. Also if this is going to be long term you will want to remove the weights before you paint or it will be a pain when you get new tires. I imagine that white wheels will be pretty difficult to keep clean but so are chrome and other colors. I think it will look great though.
