Default 245/40/17' on a 9' wheel?

Will be going 5 lug in the next month and would like to use 10th ann. cobra's which are 17x9's. I have a very new set of 245/40/17 BFG KDW2's on my Cobra R's and I wondering if these will be too narrow for a 9 inch wheel? My main concern is not that its width is 245mm but the fact that it is a 40 series tire. For instance a '05+ GT runs a 235mm on a 8.5" rim but that possible because of a large sidewall.

The g-force T/A 245/40/17 BFG KDW2 is rated for an 8"~9.5" wheel. If not the exact tire you have, you can look it up on same site.

As for fitment, I ran the same tire dimensions on my '85 GT Stang for many years on 2" drop and zero rubbing.
