Default new rear tires! help!

well my rear tires are finally shot,im looking for a 275-285's which will grip well in dry and wet traction. looking to pay no more than 300 shipped for 2.
im looking at nitto nt555's and bfg kdw's. which is better?
id like more suggestions on tires expecially if they are cheaper than what i just mentioned and are as good or close to as good.

Sorry, I don't think that going cheap on tires is a good idea. The tires are second ONLY to the driver in keeping the car on the road.

What kind of driving do you do? What are mods, if any, on your ride?

the tires im looking at are cheap yet good they have high ratings and seem pretty good.
i have a 96 gt convertable with short throw shifter, catback and k&n as of now.
the tires i have on it are 285/40 defender zr tires, never heard of them and im assuming they werent that expensive but they worked great untill now they have very little thread and spin like crazy.

You obviously have some money in mods and appear to be looking for more. I would say the KDW's or the NT555's are a good choice.

the mods were done when i got the car,im def looking for more though but im trying to go fast somewhat cheap right now since im only 17 and im living off my summer cash.
right now i have $300 to spend after i just bought new engine, trans oil,and other little accesories. i have 500 sitting at home but id rather not dip into that yet expecially since i have fines to pay.

I still feel that money on "speed" mods (by you or someone prior) and not on "holding the road" mod is a mistake. If you give up traction for mods that "break" traction, you are asking for trouble, IMO. I would dig into that $500 a little and get the NT555's or KDW's.
