Pic Request: Mach 1 Rims on SN95
#21
Does anyone have pics of Mach 1 rims on a SN95? I've searched here and on Google, but could only find one pic and it was poor quality.
While I like the look of the stock 17" split spokes that are on my 96 GT, the 245 tires that the 8" rim width allows don't look great, the tires look too narrow for the car, especially from behind. So, I want to go to 17"x9" rims, but I'm trying to decide on style; I want relatively modest, 5-spoke rims, and while I love the various Cobra style rims out there, they're popular to the point of being common place.
I've always loved the look of the Mach 1 rims from the New Edge Mach 1, and they're not overly popular, so I'm looking at getting the 17x9 deep dish black accent replicas that AM has, but I'm not sure of how they'll look on a SN95. Some rims will look great on one body style but bad on another, so I want to avoid that. If anyone can help me out, that'd be awesome! Thanks.

Man, that 98 looked awesome! If the Saleen SCs don't happen for some reason, the Mach 1s are definitely what I'm going with.

Well, it appears no one knows when the silver Saleen SC 17x10s will be back in stock. I've talked to Wheel Replicas 3 times, and each time, it's supposedly about 30 days out. I think chrome is in stock, but I'm really not looking for chrome rims, the chrome shine isn't really what I'm looking for on this car.
So, I'm considering other rims again. Reconsidering the Mach 1's, but now I really want a wider rear rim, so I don't think the Machs are what I want. Considering the deep dish 03 Cobra 17x9/17x10.5s, but as many point out, the 03 Cobras are VERY popular and somewhat "played out," because they look great: . Also considering the silver or anthracite FR500 17x9/17x10.5s, but I'm kinda thinking those are too thin of spokes and just won't look right on a sn95 w/ stock brakes. I like wide spokes, but the FR500s look sick on some Stangs, like this one: ; this car makes me want them, but then this makes me think they won't look so good on mine: ; they just don't look so great on the light blue one. Thank you Wheel Replicas for the 2 pics, Google search for the black one! Thoughts on these options?
The other 'problem' is that if I go to a 10.5" wide rear wheel vs. a 10", that means I'll have to go with a wider tire than a 285, right? I'm sure it'll look great, but that starts to get expensive with a 315, and my front tires would be significantly skinnier than my rears (245 up front for now, eventually 265s, but not until these brand new 245s have some more miles on them).

Thanks for the suggestion BA! I do like those rims, but not quite enough to get them for mine. Something about 5 spoke rims just does it for me.
I wish there were more 17x10 rim options, that's the size that would suit my wants best I think, but most rims come in 17x10.5.
If I were to go with 10.5" wide rear rims, and subsequently 315/35 tires (seems to be the 'logical' choice for that width rim, since 285/40 is too narrow of a tire and 295s or 305s aren't prevalent), that pretty much means I really should have front wheels that are wider than 245, correct? I've got a tough situation here; I can't drive much on the front tires I have, they're shot, but I certainly don't want to buy new tires for the stock rims, and at the same time I really want to reuse the brand new ZE512 245/45s I've got on the rear now on the front with the new rims. Too many factors, I guess something might have to give, lol.

I'm starting to reconsider the Mach 1s, as I'm not really looking for 10.5" wide rear rims (and the whole new set of tires that would need to come with them), and I'm not finding 10" rear rims to be plentiful.

I wish they made them in 17x8. 17x9 won't work with the classics for the front. I would have a set of 17x8s and 17x10s if they did make them.

Silver - Are those Mach 1s OEM or aftermarket? Are they 17x9 deep dish with gray inserts? Just curious, it's kinda hard to tell for sure. Thanks!

Alright, cool, thanks! I was most interested in knowing if they had the gray inserts for sure or not.
Decisions, decisions, decisions...
