Default Nitto Invo vs Falken Rt-615/615K

Anyone used these tires? once i get my bonus check for reenlisting, i'm lookin at buyin some new 18x10/9's Godspeed Omega's.

was lookin at a 295 or 305 tire in the rear and something like a 265 in the front.

i know its kinda like comparing apples to oranges, but i wanted to get some feedback on anyone who's used these tires, and budget wise wich would be better for the street, with a slight bit of track time.

i'll probably be putting some cheap all seasons on my stock wheels for the winter months, and/or buying a beater truck if i can find one affordable lol.

Those are a sweet tire and strictly for the corner enthusiast

I have not run them, but were high on my list last year at tire purchase time.

the 615k? yea i love the tread pattern. i've heard both awesome things and a few negative things like they get greasy after a bit of use, or they dont grip well for the first couple runs etc etc. i'd love some R888's like you got, those seem like amazing tires but they're dang expensive lol. the 615k is like 70$ more expensive than the 615, but falken did a video promoting their new K tire to have a much better compound and the results they came out with was a whole 1 second difference on a new 2011 5.0, and almost about a second difference with a 370z.

i guess i could run the falkens out back and run something cheaper in the front?? i love them R888's too lol, but i think the falkens would last longer? they are not an R compound.

I am not a fan of mixing/matching different tires. This can lead to understeer/oversteer issues and think it is a mistake on a car that sees the street

Although, I like the 615K, I am NOT a fan of "in house" tests for the performance of a particular item. Weather it be for tires or ANYTHING else, it is just too easy to get the results one is "looking" for in a particular test.

The best comparison of this type I have seen is layed out by Luke in a sticky thread in this section. The test uses identical cars in the same situation, so get a very honest answers to how tires perform in a given situation.

man the forums are just hatin on me tryin to post the past couple days, keeps makin what i type disappear.

bad thing about the 615k's is they are expensive. $315 a tire @ 295's for the rear. they are not an R-compound that i can tell, arent the greatest for tread wear/longevity from the reviews. so i'm not so sure how they would fair as a street tire. i kinda need a dual purpose, i'm willing to trade some performance for a tire that will be somewhat decent at normal driving speeds in moderate rain (eg up to 55-60 mph), and still have a good decent tread life where i can get 12-15k miles out of them. i wouldnt say its a proven tire either as its still relatively new.

my second option here going down the list seems to be the hankook Ventus v12 Evo, i found them for about 184$ a rear 295, much much more affordable. and the way that its listed on that sticky thread they are Max performance, i think Falken Lists the RT-615k at a Max performance too, but i dont know if the two groupings are being accounted for on the same level. i'm sure the RT615k has a bit better dry traction. i'm thinkin the ventus might be more on part with the nitto Invo? in which case it'd probably be more fair to compare the invo, the ventus, and the falken FK-452.
