Default Need spare tire advice (89 w/5lug & PBR brakes)

Hey all, I have a road trip coming up in June and need help in finding the right spare tire. I need one that's the right diameter & will work with my 5 lug brakes / hubs.

My combo is this:

Tire diam = 25.68" (245-45-17)
Front hub is largest = 2.785" (rears are 2.540")
Front brake calipers are PBR brand and will require a minimum diameter of 14" to clear.
Rear brakes are stock drums
The front brake caliper sticks out .700" from the mounting face of the hub
Bolt pattern is 5" x 4.5"

Got any suggestions?

if you just want a spare tire and wheel i would recommend going to a junk yard and picking one up for dirt cheap

I'm not asking where to get one. I'm asking what will fit.

Purchase a Cobra spare and will be fine

May have to get a spacer and some Crager lug-nuts to move out away from the caliper, but I doubt it. The Cobra spare is designed to clear a 13" rotor, but the caliper is probably a bit "thinner" in front than what you have there. I found mine on eBay for about $200 and probably won't need the spacer. Buy it, try it and let me know. If you DO need a spacer, I can get you hooked up with what to do and how to solve it

Jazzer says, you pickin' up wut Imma droppin'?

Thanks Jazzer, could you measure the diameter of yours? I'd appreciate it.

My car is in the shoppe right now getting new gears, but is VERY close to OEM diameter. I have set it next to my car and from line-of-sight, appears to be the same diameter. You are ultimately limited to the opening in your trunk well anyway. I know the Cobra is a bit larger than the GT one that it replaced.

OK I made a little progress. A co-worker let me borrow his spare from a 03 GT. The wheel fits w/ample clearance but the tire diameter is about 1.5" too small. (125-90-15) Any suggestions on what tire might be closer to my 245-45-17 diameter but use this rim?

That is because it is a 15" spare. You need to get a Cobra spare, as it has to be 17" to clear the brakes up front.

Take a peek at ***THIS ONE*** on eBay

EDIT: I just looked up a 155/70/17" tire and is 25.54" diameter and your existing tires are 25.6" diameter.... I think we good

Does anyone know what will fit in the hatchback tire well on my 89 LX, other than the little funky spare? I would like a real tire and am not too worried about size, just need it to fit in well.

Thanks folks.
