You want a 275/40/17. 255 will be too narrow for a 9" wheel.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
245/45-17 4.3in 12.8in 25.7in 80.7in 785 0.0%
275/40-17 4.3in 12.8in 25.7in 80.6in 786 -0.1%

Will it rub on my front end?

Sorry, your comment that 255 is too narrow for a 9" wheel????

That is bad info. Ford sends out from the factory 255's on a 9.5 wheel.

I agree that 275 is the way to go for looks and traction (275/40/17) but to say 255 is too narrow is wrong.

reason im asking is a jump from 255 to 275 is steep for my wallet.

I'm not saying it won't fit, it will. I'd just rather have some more meat to avoid curb rash and such.

You can also check out the specs and see that the 275/40 will be much closer to the factory sidewall, circumference etc. than the 255/45
Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
245/45-17 4.3in 12.8in 25.7in 80.7in 785 0.0%
255/45-17 4.5in 13.0in 26.0in 81.8in 775 1.4%

i have 255/40 bridgestone potenza on my cobra 17x9 wheels in the front and 275/40 eagle f1 ds g3 on the back. Before i say anything else both are amazing tires! Now 255 fit on the front no problem but i would look into a 265/40. I would love to sell my 255 and get some 265 just to fill a little more of the rim but 255 looks fine. 275 eagle f1 are huge! i swear they are sized smaller then they are cause when i bought the cobra wheels i had nt 05 275 on the front and they were no where near as wide as the eagle f1s! Those are massive!

If i were you i would get 275 for sure in the back maybe 285 and 265 in the front or just buy my 255!! Less then 500 miles on them in warm garage for winter!

I never thought the car would do a corner like it just did . after running 225s on 16s this is a real treat
