Default Rim Size Question

I have a almost new set of Eagle GT 235-55/17 tires. I read the spec's and they say 7.5 to 8.5 rim. I have my eye on a 9 inch rim. Can I use these tires on a 9 inch rim or should I buy new tires to fit ?

Tires are all about fit. Do you want it to tuck in? Do you want it to have the tall muscle car look? Fitment is mostly visual. Here is a good website for sizing: Keep in mind that the factory tire has a 27.2 diameter so to do it "right" you should stay with that diameter

The goodyears tend to run alittle wide for the size, yea it will fit on a 9in wide wheel but it may look alittle narrow on it. wont really harm anything tho.

A 235 will mount on a 9" wheel, but is really on the thin side. Even a hardcore corner-carver will stick with at least a 245. The plus-side is that a 55 series tire will have a bit more bulge, but will leave your wheels a bit vulnerable to curbs.

IMO, I would not do it.
