Default 285 or 275 all around?

I'm looking to get new wheels/tires this spring for my 11 GT. Really not wanting to go staggered, I like the look more of the same size all the way around and like being able to rotate tires as well. I ran 275's at all corners on my 04 GT, but notice not too many people are running wider than 255's up front, especially if they are lowered. I still cannot believe that Ford put 235's stock on these cars, while my 04 came with 245's, but thats a different story.

I really want to run 275/40/18 all around but its something like .6" shorter of a tire and I do not want to drop that much height on the tire, so I'm wondering if 285/40/18 is doable without rub? I know offset and suspension will play a part in this, What kind of offset am I looking at to run these? And would I need an 9.5" wheel, or would a 9" wheel work? Right now I'm on stock springs, but am looking at Ford Racing P springs in the future (maybe the same time). Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks.

For a 2011 GT the 275/45/18's will be oem diameter or same as OEM . I don't know about
285's.

Stock 235/50/18 = 27.3"
285/40/18 = 27"
275/40/18 = 26.7"
275/45/18 = 27.7"

I know they're all close, and won't really show much of a difference. My bigger question was will they rub (due to width, 285's are 2" wider than stock 235's)? It was pretty common practice for people to run 275's up front on the older Mustangs (New Edge/SN95), but it seems the largest tire most run on the S197's are 255 up front. I know some people who track their cars exclusively run wide tires up front, but I'm looking for someone who DD's their car with 285 or 275 all around (or at least up front). And before someone mentions the tram lining issue I will be bound to have, I am already aware...I never noticed much of an issue with 275's up front on my 04.

Looking like I will end up with some 275/40's when the time comes...still lots of time to research though. Only found one user running wider than that up front.

I started outrunning 275 front/ 285 rear (18 in rims) on my 06 with 1" frp lowering springs for track and day to day. Then bought a set of 20" rims with 255/285 tires for daily use and would swap on the 18's for track work. I bought a pair of 295/35/18 rivals and mounted in place of the 285's. I figured I'd run 275/295 staggered, but I tried them on the front, and had no clearance issues, so I bought another pair and run the 295's all around. Rims are Steeda 18x9.5.

Nice, thanks for the input. I really want to run 285s, so we will see what happens when the time comes. I also want to stick with 18" wheels too.

I bet your car sticks to the ground with 295's all around...pics?

Sticks like glue! picked up 4-5 seconds against the usual suspects at last Saturday's autocross. On the initial runs I was thinking the whole time "Man I'd be so spinning out on my old tires", and the next thought was "I can take that section even faster!" lol. Will post a pic or 2 soon as I have a camera and daylight at the same time. BTW at full lock I do get slight contact with front wheel well liners... so I stand corrected there.
