Default Widest Tire on Rear

I'm sure this has been asked and answered an unknown amount of times. I tried reading the sticky thread and I just get confused.

I am putting a 20X10 wheel on the rear of my '13 with an offset of 40 and I'm trying to find the widest tire I can fit on it and in that space.

I have done no other mods to the car that will effect spacing.

Can anyone offer any insight?

Thanks in advance!

I should have said widest AND tallest to fill up the fender space without rubbing.

Thanks again!

I believe a 305/35 would easily fit on that 10' rim. Do you have lowering springs. I have a 285/35/20 on a 10" rim on my 14

Thanks Cobra4me. Does that 285 fill up the fender pretty well?

Need to know the full tire size. A 305/35-20 can legitimately be fit on wheels as narrow as 10", but a 305/30-20 needs at least a 10.5" wide rim.

Squeezing a wide tire down onto a too-narrow rim will make the tire narrower as well, which defeats even the appearance reason.
