Default Huge difference in fitment between these 2 sizes?

Looking at getting a staggered set, Rear = 18x10, I'm trying to decide whether I want 285/40/18 or 275/40/18. Is there any reason why I would pic one over the other, on a set of staggered rims I'm looking at right now.

I'm seeing some wheel / tire combo's costing about the same between LMR and AM, while other combo's might cost $100 more for the 285 (same tires). I'm at work and just looking at one particular set as an example right now. Not sure if it's the same across all.

well the 285/40 will have a larger diameter and width compared to the 275/40. The 285's will have about 7mm(0.27 inches) more than the 275's in the overall wheel diameter and about 10mm(.39 inches) more in wheel width.

it's really personal preference. Personally, I would go with the 285/40.

what wheel/tire size are you going with in the front.
