How wide a tire on 2016 GT Wheel?
#2
Wheel width for the '16 GT varies a bit, depending on whether it was a PP-optioned car for starters.
18x8, 19x8.5, and 20x9 are all possible 'square setup' wheel sizes for non-PP GT cars; a staggered 19x9f/19x9.5r fitment goes on the PP. Tire mfrs will probably OK up to 245/45 on 8", 255/45 or 255/40 on 8.5", 275/40 on 9", and 285/35 on 9.5".
But . . . as you make the tire size bigger/wider without increasing wheel width, you give away steering response and precision, and even the ordinary daily-drive handling starts becoming "sedan-ish" (not a compliment for the way any sporty car should drive, slightly/somewhat numbed comes to mind as a synonym). Never mind that when you pinch a wide tire size down onto a narrow rim, it actually gets a little narrower than its nominal size suggests (meaning that you generally don't gain quite as much, appearance-wise, as the change in size numbers suggest should be the case). For most all normal driving, I'd rather see you limit 8" wheels to 235/50, 8.5" wheels to 245/45, 9" to 255's, and 9.5" to 275's.
