Driving a mustang in the winter is like driving a big rig in the snow and ice. I do both. Adjust your driving to the conditions, have some weight in it and your fine. Drive like its an sunny day and your on your side or worse. on your roof.
well...never wanted to post here...but i guess its my time
i pulled a nasty wreck on a local road around my house not too long ago at around 1 in the morning. it sent me to the intensive care unit at Duke hospital here in NC for two weeks, 4 of those days i was on a breathing machine and 3 days on life support. the rest of my stay was on a normal floor but under constant supervision. When i was discharged, i was in rehab for a week at my local hospital for my arms. i spent 9/23 until 10/16 stuck in a bed. Here is a list of my injuries incase your wondering: fractured skull, fractured ear canal (im permanentally def in my left ear and it paralized the left half of my face, which has worn off), sub-dural hematoma, 3 stitches in the lip, two broken shoulder bones, two broken clavicles, brachial plexus injury (all the nerves in my left shoulder that control arm movement were traumatized and as of right now i do not have control or feeling in that arm, its a dead arm), broken right arm (which traumatized a nerve in my right arm that controls wrist movement, so as of right now u could say i got a "limp wrist"). And to make it all worse, i get out of the hospital to see my car. so how'd all this happen? to be honest, i dont know. i remember nothing until a week after the accident, no recollection at all. all i know is the police said i was awake at the wreck site, i was ejected from the vehicle after breaking my seat belt (yes i was wearing it and yes the airbags deployed), and the cause of the wreck was loss of control at around 70mph (in a 45) where the car hit the curb and flipped down a ditch coming to rest at a tree with my drivers side quarter panel in the tree and me laying 8 inches from the car. rumors have spread of me racing a red ls1 in excess of 140, me falling asleep, and mechanical failure. all i can say is im thankful for those who helped me, that the car was the only loss, and the only permanent damage is hearing loss. i'll be around though, a donor v6 body is looking to be a good start for transplanting my still good engine in for an all-out road racer. i'll just be driving something besides my racer-to-be.

Wow ponysnake, that really sucks. I'm sorry to hear about that. All that matters is that you're ok though. Hopefully you'll recover from everything quickly.
My Cobra is is injured as well, but thankfully it's no where near as bad.
I know some of you have seen it already, but I hadn't posted here, so why not right? Pretty simple and common story, I was in traffic, traffic started to pull away, but I stayed still to let someone in, apparently the guy behind me decided that I didn't matter in the big picture of the traffic and ran into the back of me because "he thought everyone had started going". Guess I need to paint my car a brighter color than it already is. Anyway, he was cool about it and his insurance is putting a brand new bumper on the car on the 26th and it'll be good as new.
I goto college in a very snowy upstate new york town and good tires still make it near impossible to move in even the smallest amount of snow.. i add 200lbs of sand or 4 sand bags to the trunk and then when its only very neccesary to drive it i can get from a to b slowly.
Got a buddy who like a retard burned his tires to slicks, and spun out on the parkway doin 70... heres some pics..

TEH BLACK PHANTOM! this happened a month and a half ago (car is still in shop 2 more days!) was at a 4 way stop intersection 25mph speed limit zone completly stopped truck came to the intersection same time as me waved him off slightly glanced saw a corolla heading towards the intersection she was about 25 feet away from the stop sign at this time, i went(forgot for a second people dont understand what the big red sign that says "STOP" means) well she kept goin, i saw her headin right at me laid on my horn apparently she was deft too because when i looked right at her she was lookin straight down she t-boned me and rotated my car 45 degrees and i was facing the way she was comin from, luckily i didnt really get hurt had my window rolled down so when she hit the door the glass broke inside the door, some flew out and cut my left arm but it was no biggy, the damage on my car was more painful

I currently have an mr2(i'm getting a stang soon and i'm on here learning about stangs so i buy a good one) and i drive that in the rain and snow fine, it's all about slowing down and not hitting your brakes hard. My tires in the back are bald on the inside, you just gotta slow down. It's either slow down and get there 5 min later or toal your car, personally i'd choose getting there later.
damn, knock on wood i havnt had to post her, i just got my cobra too so id be pissed. sorry for all of you that have wrecked your stangs, i almost wrecked my 89 lx when i had her so i know how it feels. dont let that get you down, just get another mustang and do more mods. just be more careful.

well i have to post here also.
In august 2006 i totaled my cobra(same one i have now)... it was at 6:52am, i was on my way to work. ive driven the road a thousand times, there are some s'bends at the start i was hualin through, i figured that its a cobra, it can handle it... in reality it was me who couldnt handle it. the last curve i went around my rear end broke loose and whipped around till the point of no return (some of us no that point) i hit an embankment going about 60 my front hit first and then did a 180 and ran the back up on the dirt and stopped. i only have a scar on my left hand that reminds me of it everytime i drive my cobra. i was very lucky that i wasnt hasnt hurt like
I was young and stupid and learned the hard way.
A year and 14k later i got to drive my baby again =) i kno, i kno 14k is a lot but i couldnt let that car go... there was something about it, when you first got in, shut the door and, then turn the key... you kno that feelin lol makes you think (damn i love this car) lol
You can only push things so far.

I did something stupid! I spent about a year trying to find the right mustang to be my first. I found my 04 gt with 19000 miles 5spd and all the options that I wanted and It was all stock. It was practically new because it was a sunday driver. Eight days after the purchase my boss ,who is also a good friend, battery died on his motorcycle. I had just driven his new truck for a week before I got my stang. So I said take mine down the street to get another battery. Well sure as S@!^ some one turned in front of him on the way back and he clipped her rear. It was'nt that much damage but it rolled the fender, cracked the hood, and got the bumper and headlight. I have already had it fixed on her insurance after a three week fight. Rest assured no one will drive my car again unless they're ready to make the payments.
hahaha i got one for you guys, yea well woke up got showered blah blah blah started my car, of course . snowed like a mother effer outside soo i was on my way too take it to my garage and there is this viaduct right going out of leaving my neighboorhood.. it aint a little guy either goes over three sets of railroad tracks and i was goin along vroom vroom couldnt get traction for **** and i have 10.5 inch rear street tires and im spinnin them all the way through forth and im about idk 20-25 feet from getting to the breaking point and STOP ........... went through all the gears atleast three times!!! so after that i was like ooooppp aint goin this way, so i throw on the hazards and just slowly coast back down the 150 feet i just went up with oncoming traffic coming from behind you!!!!

yepp my story is a sad one. got my car in november... first mustang. within a month of having it, during the first real snowfall we got it got hit and run in a parking lot. i was devastated to say the least. cracked the mirror, dented the door in two spots and dented the qtr panel. was just gonna wait till it got warm to get it fixed. then bout 2 weeks ago, im leavin work on yet another ****ty day in michigan. drivin along at about 25 mph, no more then a 1/2 mile from my work. a buick battleship swirvs in front of me just as the person ahead of both of us in my lane hits the breaks. ABS rolled me right into the buick... front end smashed to pieces. get her back tomorrow. god doesnt like me.
winter sucks...my car doesnt hook up at all.....oh and advice for everyone, watch out for the old bats in buicks with veteran plates- they're bad news...they cause so many accidents
I must say, now that the winter months are dwindling down... it's nice to finally drive my car without fear of sliding into something or off the road. I had a real close call with my buddy about three weeks ago when I was doing about 65 and suddenly hit black ice going into 4th- the car spun and did a 720. Needless to say, I somehow managed to keep it on the road and out of traffic, but I don't think I've ever been more scared than that day. BTW, I've yet to get winter tires- I got stuck in my driveway three times this year! Yuck!!!
I was driving home from work in a slight mist of ran around 7 o'clock. Going threw the same intersection i always drive through, there is a big dip in the intersection and with it already being cold and misty, i was going slow as it is. I was going about 25 through the intersection, a kid was turning left off the same road i was on but opposite end. There is no arrow at this light so i had the right away since i was going straight, well im in the middle of the intersection and the dumbass kid with his girlfriend turned right into me. I saw it and slammed on my brakes but it was a split reaction, made no difference. I braced myself and ended up being fine. I was wearing my seat belt, had no airbags because i lost them last winter in the snow by spinning out on a turn going like 15 and nailed a guard rail lol. Anyways he nailed my front drivers side on the corner of the front bumper, totally ****ed everything up. My car had gotten bricked by 7 bricks about 2 months prior this, i hadnt even had the car a month out of the body shop. So i was furious, i didnt even talk to the kid, i was in shock really.
Called the cops n everything was taken care of. It was totalled easily, I figured that much considering my driver side door wouldnt open and he hit me o my side. Didnt look to bad but shifted everything underneath about 5-6 inches.

Yeah, NO crash that was my fault, but i did get t-boned in philly this week,
on spring garden, a NJ woman ran into me, she was making a illegal right turn (no turns on red) from the median strip, there is two lanes strait set up. You are spose to wait to make the turn and stay in the strait lane till u get to the turn on this street, Because the side strip is for parking, She drove down the side to avoid traffic and made the right turn as i was making a left with a green arrow!
needless to say! i just seen her comming at the last min, i honked and she ran into the rear pass side of my car, crushing the quarter panel, and messing up my wheel. The bad thing is my car shut off, the fuel pump needed reset, but when i started the car back up it was throwing the p0340 code. My insurance was like... its kinda of hard to get a check eng light from a small accident like that, 1,300 in damage right now. Shes going to end up paying for it, but i want it fixed right, I know its the alt or somthing going, idk if the accident was enought to push it over the limit, or if the sensor really went bad, (i checked the forum for the code info) I wouldnt think the fuel pump shuting off would cause the issue, but who knows.
Anyways i have to pay the 500 deduct till they get the money from her company, or ima waite till they get her claim and process it. Eather way she ran into me so shes at fault. I could see her not looking when i honked, She turned her head in the last min to see me! HOW to you miss a bright Red mustang with headers, no cats and pro dumps! LOUD come on people! haha
