I haven't heard anyone with the x on here complain about hot weather.

If your not in Cali I'd say it should, it really depends on your state's emission laws. What state do you live in?

Most often on here you'll read that 4.10s are better for n/a and 3.73s are better with f/i but it has been done both ways with the x

I haven't heard of anybody failing inspection b/c of the x-charger, but I could be wrong.

I have only had my X on less than a couple weeks(cali spec kit for now).I am a manual w/3.73's and glad i did'nt go any bigger on gears.I have pretty sticky tires and can still break loose without too much effort. Can't come on too strong outta the hole till i go to fatter, even stickier tires like et streets or something.I love this thing.

Someone told me since that X-Charger doesn't have an intercooler, it runs the engine hot all the time. Which in turn, is bad for the engine and will cause it to overheat more easily, etc etc. Is this true?

Note: I live in South Florida, it's always hot. I don't need my engine smokin'.

I can't tell you by personal experience as I am in on the group deal, but as far as reliability is concerned, the X seems to be at the top of that market.  I only have heard of one person who has had any problems and apparantly that was his fault by admission.  Couple that with the fact that there are probably more people with the Xcharger here than with any other F/I that should be pretty strong evidence.  Although you never know if somebody is holding out on us.  The intercooler should be out later this year as well which will put our numbers up considerably.

Where is lx200 when you need him?  The lack of an intercooler doesn't seem to increase stress on the engine because the tune for the x-charger pulls timing as things heat up to prevent detonation.  The temperature inside the engine during combustion is hundreds of times hotter than the air coming in.  The key is in the tune not allowing the engine to operate outside of safe operating conditions.

Besides, Steeda is located in FL and they have selected the x-charger as the S/C to sell for 4.0's.

Yeah, I'm in on it.  I was #2.  I would have been #1 but I didn't see the post for about 45 minutes.

I should have just looked up the debate you were having with ChrisC and referenced it.  I thought you explained what the real effects of the lack of intercooler were pretty well.

I hope you are right since I have now repeated it on the internet!

Is there anyone with an x-charger in western Kentucky or southern Indiana that would be willing to let me look at their car?  I'm thinking it would cost about the same to trade for a used S197 GT as to install the x-charger.  In addition to the x-charger I would think that a set of gears and a LSD would be required plus LCA's.  Is that correct?

Thanks

Steve

none of that stuff is required

But it does add to the fun factor when driving (gears & lsd) and make for better launches at the dragstrip (gears & lsd & lcas)

Hey, we're almost neighbors.  Yahoo maps says its like 112 miles from Owensboro, KY to Mt. Washington, KY.  Let me know if you get an x-charger and we can meet half way and kick tires and such.

Steve

I want one real bad but I have two car payments and am trying to buy my first house so it will probably be a few years but if you ever wanted to meetup to compare notes and  such in say hardinsburg (US 60 Raceway) or Beech Bend in BG I can always try to talk the wife into it.

1 quick question,,, I dont want duals I just want to keep the 1 fat pipe out the pass side ,,, will that work ok with the X?
Too restrictive? Too loud? Will the pressure blow the FRPP muffler to bits?

ok that like 3 questions in one.
