too much money  besides the twin supercharged block will be built to handle that and its gonna have a set of boss 429 heads on it :)  im gonna go with a 4 bolt main block converted to a 6 bolt main and then have the main girdles go to the oil pan bolts so NO movement :)  i got this WELL thought out

An A460 block is to expensive, but it's ok to custom build main caps and somehow make a girdle to the oil pan rails, buy twin SC's and come up with boss 429 heads.

a brand new A460 block is 2100 dollars, that aint bad.  And you know its good for at least 2000 hp.  IMO its a better investment then the 5 or 6 blocks ur gonna go through.  But good luck.

i went through 31 429/ (pre-79) 460 before i found the one i used for the 1600hp car i built.  if you know what to look for you can still use a stock block and the  A460  wont run on the street and not over heat even with the water jackets. and too much expansion in the block and too much warpage, wont be reliable! and i have 2 set of 429 boss heads. and im gonna be runnin twin sc's and the plenium to handle it :)  just time and money  but im gonna run 9's and drive home with a/c and radio and drive to work the next day

Does anyone know of a 390 in a Fox Mustang that has been completed?  I've got a 4cyl coupe and I've been considering a 390 project for a long time.  I have some stuff for it already, an old holley street dominator intake, GT heads, a block that may or may not be good, etc..

i did the 427 side oiler in a 87 fox.  twisted the frame  lol   but i also didnt resuport the body either.  can be done!!

the 1600hp was on a 11.5 to 1  800hp base and then a experimental paxton from paxton themselves,  worked great for me but they didnt end up making it cause it started out needing too much oil pressure for most motors and mine just ended up be just right lol .

the 390 is a tough motor to do this with, cause their are no real fe motor mounts or plates to adapt to a fox.  that dont mean it cant be done.  Also I hope that you have some money to spend on aftermarket for these motors, cause its expensive and it isnt as abundant as the 385 series motors.

hope this helps

The motor mounts and frame mounts would be the biggest problem.  I've had the idea of making a block plate before, but that would create other problems.  If you could tell me how that was done I'd appreciate it!

As far as building the engine and finding parts, I know 390's backwords and forwards.  I probably wouldn't have to go much over stock to make enough power to make a coupe fast.  Olny a little over 1hp per cubic inch would be an easy 400hp.  Setting it up for nitrous would be even more fun.  I've got 3 sets of heads including a set of 16 bolt exhaust pattern GT heads.  Actually, almost everyting but a rebuild kit and some way to get it in a fox.

I know the 385 series is easier to work with here, but I want something different.  How often do you see a Mustang with an FE?  I think a lot of younger people these days wouldn't know what it was.

I have plenty of time to think though, this project is a ways off.

D & D makes swap kits to put an FE in a fox stang, including headers.

I've seen a few running in NHRA SS/GT classes..

Thanks for the link.  That answers a lot of things I was wondering about.  It would be pretty expensive using all of their swap parts.  I wonder how much of it I could make.
