Default Wait Times on 2005 Mustang GT

Hey, I am trying to find a 2005 Mustang GT, but the dealers are trying to charge 3,000 dollars ocer the sticker price. So I am most likely going to order one from my local dealer. Everyone that I speak to gives me a different wait time for the 2005 Mustang GT. How long did yall wait?

12 weeks for me. But the more people post here it sounds like the wait for an 05 will be forever...might have to wait for an 06.

I got mine in 7 weeks, but I've got a good dealer and I ordered in February when there was still snow on the ground around here. Spring is the "hot time" for coupe sales so that's what you're up against right now. Over the past 6-8 weeks, orders have exploded.

So, we're seeing some people who ordered in Nov/Dec/Jan just getting their cars or build dates now. We're hearing dealers don't have any more allotment for GT cars for the '05 models and are pushing people into '06s. The factory is way backed up.

Based on all that info, if you can find a dealer who will order an '05 for you AND the dealer still has allotment, I'd say the best you could hope for is 8 weeks. The worst? Well, you may have to wait until about July to order an '06 to be delivered in Sept.

My dealer said he's got orders for '06s that will probably use up his entire allotment until December '05, though. He can't even take any more orders for an '05.

Best thing to do is to find one on the lot (not an easy task) and buy it if it's close to what you want if you don't want to wait.

I ordered mine on Jan 18, and it got built this week. Expect delivery by end of April. I have heard that if you order the GT Premium with the interior upgrade package (brushed aluminum, etc.), that will cause a delay. Evidently, there was a shortage of these. At least my long wait is almost over.

Ordered my GT April 5. At the time of my order, my dealer could not even garantee that I would get the car at all so I was worried and started checking dealers lots to see what I could find. April 7 my dealer got a "dealer order receipt aknowledgement" with a partial VIN. My dealer told me this means that the order has been accepted and all they are waiting for is a final date for delivery. I hope he's telling the truth. So far he's been very good about providng me with all sorts of information that I have aksed for. He even managed to come up with some very detailed technical info from Ford on how the variable cam timing works.
At any rate, the dealer thinks I'll get the car in late June. The wait is going to be difficult but from what I've heard worth it.

Bought mine off the lot last month. From what I'm told you might as well wait for the 06's. Its very tough to get one under sticker.
