Default which cam/intake/carb for GT40P heads?

Hey guys im new to mustangforums. Heard about it from LIstangs.com

I have a 306 with gt40 intake, e303 cam, and gt40p heads in my 86 hatchback that im putting into my 86 notch. I'm going to run carbed for various reasons so i dont want to have a carb vs. FI debate if thats what your going to give me because i already decided.

What intake and carb would make the most power for me with my combo?

Is it worth getting a different cam while the engine is apart?

I have a holley 1850-4 and an 1850-5 laying around that are still in good condition. Are they a good choice or should i look for something better??

The car is a daily driven butdrag orientedand has at-5 and3.73s

Thanks for your help,

Nick

Intake and carb will depend on the cam, cam will depend on intake, carb etc. It depends on what rpm range you want to run it in, where you want the power, whatkinda mileage and throttle response you want on the street.

Vehicle weight and gearing matters also. But something like an RPM Air Gap with a 600ish cfm carb and a cam designed to operate from like 2,500-6,500 range.
