Default Need help with a purchase (93 lx 4 cyl) help !!

I saw the car on the lot and wanteded it,to bad its a 4 cyl. The car is super clean with no rust. all the computer components work and the only blemish i see is a small burn (less than a dime) in the back seat. the ac/heat works and its a automatic. brand new tires and the car looks super clean. It has 84,666 miles on it,is that alot? the car is at the dealer and there is no salvage on the title. waiting for someone to repond and get me (hopefully) a carfax on the vehical. overall i think its beautiful. anything i should know before i buy. thank you[/align]

Check for burnt transmission fluid

Also check if there is oil in the radiator or a "milkshake" in the oil

just double check the obvious like tires, rust, take a test drive for the brakes and handling. is it auto or man? pay attention to the engine response either way... umm... check out the frame/radiator... double check for AC unit.. (some of these tips are from personal experience, lol)
if you can, PM molinafj76 he has a lot of experience purchasing these cars, and will give you some great feedback.

85k miles isn't bad for that year.. we boughta 91lxthat had like 250k! we've since swapped out the engine to a stronger 93 and it purrs like a kitten with only 40k. =)

I don't have any carfax access, but if you do a forum search for carfax your search should yield a lot of positive responses- a lot of guys on here have access to that and NADA.
Good luck!

85K(mine has 177K)it's bad at all for these motors, just be carefull of the auto.
Everybody has problems with the A4LD tranny.

Check everything mentioned above and you'll be set. You say it doesn't have any rust so there is one thing you don't have to worry about. Deff check the brakes, suspension, and all rubber(i.e. tires, weatherstripping, hoses, stuff like that).
If you can test drive in the rain, that way you can spot leaks(if any) and anything else the rain might do to it.
If there is anything that doesn't work, or really needs to be replaced, try negociating with the dealer about it. The longer the car has been there the more opportunities you have play with.
