Default Got an 05 V6, want to uprade

Hello All,

I got an 05, V6 and i want to upgrade a few things for performance.

First I want to upgrade the exhaust. Don't think I want to got with a dual system do to pressure issues and retuning. Probably just the muffler. I want to make sure the muffler provides a really good sound as well as decent increasese in performance.

Secondly, I want to upgrade to a mass air intake system. I have seen some systems online that claim 15-18rwhp with a retune. Not sure what to believe.

I am basically looking for some guidance or reccomendations. I know enough about cars to be dangerous, and want to make sure im making educated decisions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I got a set of 05 V6 premium wheels with spinners and tires for $450.00. If anyone intersted let me know.

I have a K&N filter and a RAVIN 33 series muffler. I won't say positively that there was a performance gain but the sound is fantastic.

I just installed the XCalibrator with the Steeda tune...

Sounds meaner, definitely more launch power...

out of all the mods I've looked into, I would have to say the retune will do the best for the buck.

I'd recommend the K&N drop in air filter and a new muffler as well... you might consider duals, but if you do, use 2 1/4" pipes, not 2 1/2".. which will help resolve the backpressure issue...

Now that I have my tuner, I'm going to hook my sneaky pete nitrous back up (removed it previously cuz I took it to the dealer)...

I'm going with the T-lok and 4.10 gears next...

Im very intersested in the K&n filter upgrade..pretty cheap upgrade...like 40 bucks.
what im wondering is it one of those things where you get what you pay for..how much of a performance booster is it, and have any of you recognized a change in fuel economy?

About the muffler issue.. I am probably going to stick with just a single muffler, I really dont want to cut the bumper. you think the stock GT muffler would add any performance? If not is there another muffler out there that would provide some performance gains as well as have a decent sound. I definitely dont want to sound like a ricer

With the K&N drop in, I'm not sure I saw any HP gains, but I could definitely tell a difference in my fuel economy... prolly went up a mile or two a gallon...

I like my ProV muffler, but again, I don't think it alone saw any HP gains, of if there were any, it was minimal...

Now take the above two mods, and add a good tune... yes you will see a good amount of gain...
