First i would like to say hello to everyone as I am new here and this is my first post. Now to the point. I need a new car, I have a V8 mountaineer and its killing me with these gas prices. I want a car that gets decent gas mileage (average over 20mpg city/highway) and has decent performance. I have always loved mustangs so i figured i would get a V6 to save on gas because I'm only 17 and work part time. Would a used V6 be the solution to my problem?

I've got a 3.8, and the mileage, though better than your mountaineer, still isn't amazing. From what I've seen from the V8 guys, they get the same mpg as me with my 6. Look at it this way, you are comparing a relatively big 6 to a somewhat small 8. The 8 will have better performance, and the mpg will probably be very simliar. Look at insurance, too. If you are only 17, a V8 will probably run you pretty high on insurance.

OK maybe the V6 mustangs isn't what I thought it would be, I know the GT will be way to much for insurance and I don't want to get some damn little 4 banger car.

Dude get the v6 stang. The gas is average, and gives you a lot more credit than a honda.

If you want a gas saver don't even bother looking at Mustangs. The V6 gets the same as a GT, and insurance for a GT isn't that much more if you shop around. But you said you want like 20mpg city, so I'd just forget Mustangs all together. You'll be looking at imports and 4 bangers if you want mileage.

You can get a Sixer but eventually you will start getting mods, all kinds...body to power adders. So not just the gas but you will be paying for a lot of things. And once you start moding your car it will be hard to stop!
