Default 94 Vert Top Replacement question

Hey all,

Have a 94 Vert that the top needs to be replaced. I have called around to several shops and got pricing, but the big question is, can you re-use the glass from the old top?

Two places said you should replace the glass, didn't ask the rest. But I am seriously thinking they are nuts. Shouldn't you be able to reuse it? The bottom of the glass is where the biggest problem with my car is, the fabric has strunk so much it is not touching the glass at the bottom.

Can I reuse the glass (it's real glass with defroster)?

Thanks,

Jay

p.s. anyone know of a reputable place that's fair in pricing in the Detroit Metro area?

They probably wouldn't like it if I bought the top and had them install it?

you arent going to be ableto reuse the glass. the top comes in 2 main parts, you have the whole front part, and the rear curtain where the glass is. the glass comes sealed (glued, attached, whatev) into the rear curtain from the factory and cant be properly sealed into a new curtain. i highly doubt anyone even sells a rear curtain without the glass. if you say that your glass has already separated from the top, then its going to be pointless to reuse that section. both top sections, with the glass, should only run you about $400. and you can figure another $400 or so for install. so total you are looking at around $800.

I second that, I was told by the upolstry guy that they could not reuse the glass. I am getting my whole top replaced, I have the same problem with the window leaking. There was only a $300 diff in price for them to replace the rear section and to do the whole thing. I figure I may as well just get a whole new top. It'll look better anyway.[/align]

As much as I hate this I think I am going to have to cave in and buy a whole new top! It sucks! It makes me regret getting a convertible! If I had known that this would happen I would have looked for a coupe!

A nice day with the top down should help with that "should have bought a coupe" feeling.
