ok im gonna keep it short and simple i bought a mustang thru a dealer 2-3 months ago and it says cobra all over it and want to find out if indeed it is a fake cobra and its a GT instead heres the deal.......Cobra Rear Bumper,Cobra Emblems on the 2 driver and passenger side fenders,17"Cobra Rims. Now here's where i start to doubt,my car IS indeed a 4.6 V8 BUT has the Pony on the steering wheel, the engine doesnt say cobra on it or should it say it?and the seats have the pony logo on it here are some PICs of it hope you can see! oh and heres the vin i also thought that it should say Cobra if it indeed was a cobra but there is no cobra model on KBB website when i looked it up only up to the GT 1FAFP42X6YF243981 ...i keep thinking the noob that had it before me riced the ass out of a GT but i am happy with a GT lol i mean it is a nice looking car dont you all think so too
It'sa fake. No Cobras were made in 2000 except the 2000 Cobra R.

+1. if you owned a 2000 cobra (R), you'd be a very lucky (and potentially wealthy) man. i ran ur vin through carfax (i got a subscription b/c im in the market right now) and it is a GT

Definitely a GT, hope you didn't get ripped off. As side notes, if you posted a picture of the engine it would be extremely easy to see if it was a 4v or a 2v, the steering wheel on both have the Mustang logos though, not Cobras. You definitely don't have a 2000 Cobra R, and that's a GT hood, so someone would have had to swap a GT hood on a Cobra which would be silly. Oh, and those aren't Cobra wheels. They aren't any OEM wheels at all.
You do realize that if you paid for a Cobra and they misrepresented it to you as a Cobra, you can give the car back and get your money back or get the difference of the market value prices back. It's called fraud, yep and most states have some sort of consumer protection law that protects against deceptive trade practices. (I'm in law school, they made me learn that.)

If you look at your reciept and it says "Mustang Cobra", the dealer is liable to correct situation. If your car is NOT a Cobra and sold as one, they owe you a complete refund. I guess if you are happy with the car, then keep it. Sorry, I wouldn't. Especially if I payed a Cobra price for it.
