Default Manual Tranny upgrade? What and Where?

I just confirmed my engine build with Adam at SpankinTime Motorsports, and I'm interested in possibly upgrading the tranny when the engine is out. What fits, and what else needs to change?
Would probably need a different driveshaft, right?

Any help would be appretiated, as Adam only plays with Automatics, because they don't break. Haha.

Thanks

The Tr6060 is the obvious choice.

http://www.steeda.com/products/tremec_tr-6060.php

That's what I'll eventually get, but not anytime soon. I think all you'll need is the crossmember and new clutch (atleast a new clutch disk, because it uses a 26 spline shaft, right?). I'm not sure if it requires a new driveshaft or not.

Yep, requires a custom driveshaft. They say it requires some fabrication for shifter installation. I think you just need to notch the hole in the floor at the back.

Damn, $3K is cheaper then I expected. I'm going to have to talk to Steeda, Adam, and Coast (see if they can shorten my driveshaft) and get this thrown in at the same time.
Badass.....guess I won't be buying a new bike soon. Hahaha.

I saw a used one on a corvette forum for $2450 OBO, it only had 100 miles on it.

Don't forget you need a 26 spline clutch.

If I lose my 3rd gear synchros at the track, any gear for that matter, I plan to limp the thing around shifting from 2nd to 4th until I can get the tr6060 in my car. Hopefully I can just get a new clutch disk from spec for the 26 spline shaft.

For about $7k, doing the labor myself, I can have a bullit proof setup, except for the rear end.

Since I don't drag race, I'm not worried about the rear end. Adam has had no problems, and all he does is tighten up the clutch packs so they lock up sooner/harder.
I am worried about twisting the input shaft, as Jon Sawyer already has when he pushed over 600rwhp, and Adam expects my car to pull over 600 rwhp on 14 psi (race gas). So, better safe then sorry, just spend the extra $4000.

Clutchmasters may be able to help me out with Jons clutch as well...set it up for 26 spline.

More phone calls to make, more money to spend. Woot. [&:]

The FRPP catalog lists a couple of Tremec TKOs at about $2100 (M-7003-R58C, M-7003-R58H). Rated at 600 ft-lbs with ratios for 1 through 4 being 2.87/1.90/1.34/1.00 and your choice of 0.82 or 0.68 5th. No idea about driveshaft or clutch disc issues.

TR6060 would be a good choice.

Call D&D and beg for one with the viper overdrive gear (.50)

I would suggest the Mcloed Twin disk with the 26 spline input. I have never heard of anyone having problems and I believe it holds up to 800 ft lbs of torque.

Good luck.

When you buy a different tranny you have to get the 500-600 bell housing with a 600-700 driveshaft.

The 3650 has a weak input shaft. (10 spline) You can buy or have Promotion rebuild your tranny with a 26spline. Libertygears.com sells the input shaft. This is holding 792tq at the track. This is what I plan on doing

Why do you need a new bell housing, for the track? What is a 600-700 driveshaft?

This kit comes with a driveshaft.

I was making the point that with a new tranny comes other costs. tranny is 2500 but then you add in a new DS and bell housing, etc... Adds up to 4grand....just like the kit.

Beefing up the 3650 is cheaper with a $400 input shaft and a $600 driveshaft
