Default Alarm...ARGGGHH!!

I just had a new Viper alarm installed today, but it is giving me all sorts of trouble. The alarm just goes off at random and the alarm doesn't communicate with the pager (supposed to notify me when the alarm is going off) a feature I paid an extra $150 for.

I don't know if the system is defective or whether something is wrong with the installation. All I know is that I took time off from work, paid $370, and now have an alarm that I can't activate because it will just go off every 45 minutes.

Break-ins have been really bad at work lately....that's what prompted me to get the alarm in the first place....and now I can't even arm the system.....ARGGGHH!!

as long as you didnt install it i'd take it to whoever installed it and tell them to fix it.

Was it you that said you were going to Best Buy to have it installed? If so the labor and the alarm is golden for life. Did they disconnect the factory keyless entry? If they didn't and you're using both remotes then thats the problem.

Yeah I had it installed at Best Buy...I'll be giving them a call as soon as they open and hopefully take it back in to them.

I don't think they disconnected the factory keyless entry. When I picked the car up I asked if the factory fob was useless now, the installer told me "no" and that it would still operate the keyless entry. I haven't used the factory fob since picking up the car, I just put it on my spare set of keys....so I am not using both remotes, they are just both active.

OK so thats not your problem... They more than likely didn't program the remotes correctly. Make sure you keep the yellow recipe they gave you!!! I'd duck tape it to the inside of your glove box. Or you labor warranty will be void. Sorry you're having troubles man. I can't vouch for every installer obviously, but BB has very strict standards on how things are done.

Yeah, I threw that reciept straight into my glove box yesterday. I've had this Best Buy install for me several times before on previous vehicles and didn't have any problems. I don't get the feeling at all that these guys are jerking me around...just frustrated that its not going as smoothly as I had hoped.

I took the carback to Best Buy and the Geek Squad took care of me. They replaced the alarm system brain and remote at no cost andare sending the old system back to Viper as defective equipment.

Thanks for the help

Yeaah Geek Squad! Since everyone that touches a vehicle has to be certified now, the Autotechs are now a part of Geek Squad. I'm studying for my Master MECP cause I want the money! lol
