Default dyno and a few new parts

so i got my stock 98gt on the dyno and just as expected the numbers were not very impressive. it made 176rwhp and 237.3rwtq. the next day i installed a side exit exhaust but still have the stock h-pipe and headers and then installed some underdrive pulleys. nothing very drastic yet but its my work in progress. i will have pics of the exhaust as soon as i can get them.

I don't know how low non-pi usually dyno but I'd imagine those #'s are about right.

I'd guess a full PI swap would be goo for 60-70rwhp

yeah that's pretty amazing, you should net atleast 60 rwhp out of a PI swap

I saw 72 rwhp from a PI swap and tune. Sxynerd saw 72 rwhp from swapping in a full PI engine and tune. [:@] I hope it's on your list.

oh believe me a PI swap is very high on my list i just have to save up the money to get it done. so most likely that will be getting done next spring. but where i got it dynod i had to get a custom tune to get the driveshaft limiter taken off because it was stopping my car from reving over 4500rpms in fourth. he took the speed limiter off first and when we tired it after that it still wouldnt so he looked it up and ended up having to custom tune the car. i have never heard of a driveshaft limiter until now. and how hard is it to do a PI swap yourself because i got a quote of 1200 dollars for installation if i brought him all the parts needed.

It's not a driveshaft limiter, but a rev limiter. You're not going to need to go above 4,500 rpm's in 4th gear, especially when you're only NPI making the numbers you're making... The PI swap is not easy to do, it's also time consuming. I suggest swapping in a complete PI engine, it's a lot easier and there are other benefits: you'll have a lower compression ratio so you won't have to run 93 octane,if you want to boost later it wouldn't be a problem, and you'll havelower mileage on yourshortblock, too.

we knocked out the rev limiter and it still wouldnt go over 4500 there was a driveshaft limiter because he had to custom tune it. and my peak horse power was at 4500rpms but the computer wasnt registering it because it cut out right at 4500 even the guy at the place i went to thought it was really weird. i went to a mustang specialty shop to get the car dynod. he used the sct tuner to disable the rev limiter and the driveshaft limiter. how much would it cost for a used pi engine swap?
