I just bought a 5 speed 2008 GT,and at times it will grind a little shifting into 2nd or 3rd gear. I am taking it in for its first oil change and mentioned the shifter trouble to the service manger and was told Ford is aware of this ( TSB-08-9-6, 4.6 Clasp). He told me to bring the car in and Ford will replace the Synchronizers on 2nd and 3rd gear. Wow that sounded way too easy! The car is going in on tuesday I will let you know how I make out.

Yes I did read the other post's , but this is not a shifter trouble (although the stock shifter is nothing to write home about) I am "Granny Shifting" this car at normal speeds and it feels like when you drive a manual trans in cold weather before the oil in the trans has heated up, not a missed gear just a slight grind you can feel as it goes into gear. My car just hit 2 thousand miles and I have been breaking this car in nice and easy No Power shifting........yet! I want the rings to seat nice so I am not beating on the car. I think the TSB Ford issued saying that its a transmission issue is correct. That would explain why replacing the shifter did not help some of the people. I am thinking it would be a lot cheaper for Ford to replace a shifter than go after the transmission. I will let you know when I get it back from the Ford Dealer.
I just had this TSB done last week to my 08. While I can't say I noticed too much of a difference as of right now at least I got my trans fluid changed and the extra play I had in the clutch pedal and shifter tightened up. Then again, that's just from the mechanic doing his job and not from the new parts, but at least the trans is in spec. I'll just have to wait for it to get cold again until I can tell whether it has really made an improvement on not. Until then....and yes I did have the same problem you were having itsgeorge.
I got my car back from Ford today, without the TSB repair to the trans. The service manager said he was on the phone to Ford and was told "if the problem could not be duplicated by them no repair". They put about 25 miles driving it around but hell it was 97 degrees out. I told them I would see them again when it gets cold out. So I got my first oil change, and they did take some of the slack out of the shifter. Its nice to have the car back in 1 day but i am disappointed that when I made the appointment I was told they needed the car for 3 days to do the TSB repair, Then to be shot down by Ford. I kind of expected better service from Ford. Then again I may have been spoiled, my daily driver is a Mercedes Benz and let me tell you they really kiss your a**. They will give you a ride home, fix things you are not even aware of (TSB's from MB) The car is 8 years old and when I pick it up after service they still wash it and clean the inside, now that is service.I took the car in one time and told the service rep. it had a slight shake at 145MPH that went away at 150MPH The guy didn,t even blink, " not a proublem Sir we will fix it"! And they did for free! So perhaps I have been spoiled, I just expected more from Ford.
I don't even want to KNOW how you found a shake at 145 that went away at 150..
And if your DAILY DRIVER is capable of those speeds, WTF did you buy a Mustang for? I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car, but come on now, let's be realistic.. LOL
