P/S Pump Pulley Install
Almost got really bad....
while we were forcing it on I noticed that the bolt that threads into the shaft, and that the forcing screw is on, got bent kind of bad.
Luckily it didnt break or snap off in the shaft of the P/S pump.
Question is, now that we've ruined the bolt, what do we do to get it on?
Somone has suggested boiling the whole pulley, and then placing it on the shaft and going at it while it is hot.
Anyone had this issue before and gotten through it w/o breaking anything off?

RE: P/S Pump Pulley Install
we (probably my dad) ruined the ps pulley itself pulling it back off
it came off crooked and left some nasty grooves in the inside of the pulley
nothing happened to the shaft,
So we're gonna get a new one (25 dollars [:@]) heat it up, oil the shaft, and ram her on!
another questoin:
the valve cover gaskets i put on in the winter after replacing the head seemed stretched out and wont stay put into the grooves in the under side of the valve covers..
so i have to get new ones?
or can i unstretch them?

That's what we used. It bent the bolt.
We're going to get a new one though, guy there said they won't charge me for another one.
So, brand new pulley + oil + boiling the pulley had better = a snug in place pulley
this **** sucks

RE: P/S Pump Pulley Install
On the hard stuck stuff I like to heat it up with small torch. Heat it and cool it enough times and they normally pop off. And don't forget lube!

RE: P/S Pump Pulley Install
I can't remember when I took mine off, but aren't the ps pulleys on our cars plastic? Taking a torch to it may cause an out of round and you may start throwing belts. I've seen it happen before. Just use some lube and the installer. I didn't have a problem with mine when I did it. Good luck!
