Most people replace the the MAF because the stock one becomes a bottle neck with FI

A MAF is a supporting mod just like injectors and fuel pumps. You will gain no power from upgrading them unless you have reached their current limit. Upgrading to a larger MAF is not the best idea. 90mm + is to big for any FI 2v car. The stock MAF is big enough to support over 800hp as long as you upgrade the electronics. When you use to big of a maf it will give a false reading.

+1 your not gonna gain any power by replacing the MAF unless the current one your running is already pegged. For a blow-thru setup you want the diameter as close to the same size as the rest of the piping to minimize turbulence which causes false readings. Although, you will definitely benefit from a larger diameter MAF on a draw thru blower setup.

OP, the amount of air your engine ingests doesn't change depending on what size maf you have. The MAF simply reads how much air is coming in. It takes a voltage reading which is sent to the PCM then is traslated into a specific amount of air based on the values loaded in your MAF transfer table (written in your tune).
