Default Post your combinations and/or hp.

I am wondering what you guys are getting out of your engines and it took to get there.
It might help to pick other great engine setups for new 351 swap guys.
Thanks

Rye

I dont have my motor yet (about 2 months!!!) but Im either going to do a 393W or a 357W w/ a supercharger putting out really low boost. Nothing big at all. Along w/ AFR 205's, Edelbrock Air Gap, not sure on carb yet.

You should upgrade them heads and than you will be making some serious power. What do you think about my future setup?

heads are way out of my budget right now. im planning on racing this one for a few years, learn the trick of road racing, then building a car to compete in the AIX series when I get out of college and have a steady income.

on ur setup, go with the 393 for now. get the shortblock done and built, then add ur poweradder. it will save time and money in the long run

Well, I know that the 393W will satisfy me more than enough so I think thats what Im going to go with and just throw a 75 shot on there and I will be happy. Just cusious, Ive heard alot of things about the 351W blocks on how much power they can handle. Whats your knowledge?

Find yourself a mid 70's or older block because they are stronger in the main web.
If you decide to use the newer block, just get a main girdle and that will help but i would not go past 650hp(with proper machine). I read that the sportsman block with a main girdle will handle 850 to 950hp.

my build up is taking a long time. these are my plans so far.
already have:
72' block, .030" over ready for build
stock 3m crankshaft, polished
victor jr. intake
comp double roller timing set
speed pro cam, flat tappet, 110*, 218/230 dur. @ .05", .458/.483 lift

need to get:
promustang performance iron heads, 2.08/1.60", 64cc, 314 cfm @ .700 lift
manley valves, comp cams springs, retainers and locks
holley 750 cfm carb
eagle i beam rods
and forged pistons to get it to 10.5:1 compression
comp cams 1.7 roller rockers

Desktop Dyno "says" it should make 430 lb/ft of torque at 5500 rpm and 463 hp at 6000 rpm.
ill be content with something around there.
