Be Very Afraid of This 1,000-Horsepower S550 Mustang

Twin-turbocharged S550 Mustang has one helluva growl.

Can you imagine whipping a 1,000-horsepower Mustang Coyote around the city as an everyday driver?

Thinking about it, we can’t imagine whipping around a 1,000-hp Mustang anywhere, aside from a wide-open straightaway on a track, all alone, without anyone else within miles.

Then again, some of us tend to be a little more cautious, especially when it comes to driving a car packing that kind of power.

This Mustang is powered by a factory long-block running a Helion twin-turbo kit, as detailed in the description of That Racing Channel‘s video above. The owner of the Mustang Coyote has also swapped out the car’s original transmission for an upgraded TR-6060, which clearly has met the owner’s approval.

“The gearing is way better. It’s longer, the ratios are better,” he says. He does, however, note that the shifting is a little stiffer than it was with the stock trans. But from the sound of it, he certainly seems to be adjusting to the switch-up quite well.

Yep, hearing that thing growl as he shifts through the gears is pretty good proof of that. Although, you quickly get a sense of why we’re so big on those wide-open straightaways. Still, the driver does a damn good job of keeping everything under control, even when giving the guy from a TRC a feel for the Mustang’s capabilities.

All the same, the sound of hammering down on a 1,000-horsepower Mustang is enough to put some on edge. Don’t you think?
