Ford Mustang Horror: Poor 1968 Stang Becomes Sparkly Unicorn

This poor ’68 Mustang might look like a lost cause, but it can be saved. And there’s a reasonable story behind its existence.

One of our very favorite ways to kill time on the internet (as if we need help with that) is Reddit’s fantastic Shitty Car Mods. It never ceases to amaze us just how far people go with their old automotive heaps to make them, well, unique. But the vast majority of the cars we see there are ones that belong in a junkyard anyway. Until we stumbled upon this fomerly great 1968 Ford Mustang on Reddit. Which looks like it’s been hit with the Care Bear Stare.

Typically, when you say that a car is a “unicorn,” it means that it’s an incredibly rare find of a lifetime. But in the case of this particular Mustang, it means that it’s well, actually a unicorn. Complete with wings and a massive horn on the hood. And it even kinda makes sense, because the Mustang is a horse. Get it? Don’t worry, we didn’t either.

Purpose-driven Ford Mustang

Despite what we initially thought, however, this Mustang abomination isn’t just some madman’s botched creation. It was actually built for a purpose. That is, to support The Albert Kennedy Trust, which helps homeless gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans folks in crisis. After the “Unistang” hit England’s 2017 Pride parade, it was auctioned off for the charity.

There is some other good news regarding this formerly cool ’68 Mustang, too. The giant protrusions are magnetic and removable. As is the glittery paint, which features a Plastidip undercoating. And that’s exactly what we’re hoping the new owner did…immediately. Because sometimes, being a unicorn isn’t a good thing.
