This ’71 Mustang Mach 1 Takes A New Approach To Eleanor Mustangs

Comparisons to a certain 1967 Mustang will be made, but this Mustang Mach 1 gets better as you uncover the details.

Of all vintage Mustangs, one of the most copied designs has to be Elanor, from the more recent iteration of Gone in 60 Seconds. The 1967 Fastback has become one of the most recognizable movie cars, too, but what if you take that Elanor theme and apply it to a radically different Mustang? Only four years separate 1967 and this 1971 Mach 1, but the look still works on a much larger pony. And the very first Eleanor was a ’71 anyway, so why not meld the two together?

This car is far more than a clone. It proudly stands on its own given the extent of custom work. Lets talk about that paint again for just one moment. Keen observers will see the racing stripes, which also run along the underside of the car. Everything underneath the car is worth admiring, too, with custom all-polished suspension setup.

Notice that bulging hood? It’s housing something impressive. Specifically, a 502 CI supercharged V8. Output is rated at 725 horsepower, and with a wire-tucked engine bay, it’s another beautiful thing to look at. Fast also comes with responsibility, and safety is part of the appeal to the interior. A 10-point cage, racing seats and racing harnesses hold you in.

Let’s face it, this car isn’t going to be regularly used at a track, but the fact is, if you wanted to use it that way, you can. Priced at $84,995, this fresh resto-mod is going to be picked up and admired soon.
