Bolt-On S550 Mustang Challenges Bottle-Fed Firebird

There’s $100 on the line, but who keeps their pride?

You know, those GM kids will just never quit. The Bay Area Racing on YouTube posted up another street race video that shows a WS6 Firebird trying to best an S550 Mustang. The video actually opens with a bit of an argument.

Mustang Vs Firebird drag race

You see, the WS6 is running a bottle, and the Mustang is just running some bolt-ons and a tune for E85. Not exactly a fair fight, but the Firebird guy just won’t let up. Finally, after a lot of random arm waving and loud noises, a bet is set. The winner goes home with $100 in their pocket.

Now, as you can probably expect from a small-block V8 running nitrous, the Mustang was going into this battle on the back foot. Once the madness starts, the Mustang takes an early lead, but the Firebird soon leans deep into that bank of nitrous and runs off for the win.

But seriously, how many races do these guys have to watch and take part in before they realize they bought a crap engine with an even worse car wrapped around it? This was a completely unfair race from the start. The Firebird certainly has more power thanks to that bottle, and thanks to a pile of friends helping out with the burnout, plus warmer tires for the race. Still, it got beat out of the hole, and barely won the race overall. The owner of the WS6 may have gone home with a little extra spending cash, but it sure doesn’t feel like much of a win. All that extra power and the tire advantage, and they still could barely outrun a Mustang with some bolt-ons.

So, the next time some idiot with a small-block Chevy decides you guys should run your cars, just blow them off. Not only is street racing stupid, dangerous, and illegal, we all know that unless those GM guys can find some way to gain an advantage, they’ll never win anyways.
